Find Dimmit County Release Dates

A Dimmit County projected release date answers when a sentenced person may leave confinement under the rules that apply to that record. It is not the same as a scheduled date or an actual release. A person held before trial may have no fixed date because bond, court action, and other holds control the outcome. For a state prisoner, the Texas corrections record may show a projection and later scheduling fields. For a county sentence, the judgment, jail credits, and Sheriff's computation matter. To learn when they will be released, identify the custodian and read each date by its exact label.

Dimmit Projected Versus Actual Release

A projected release date is a current calculation. It can reflect offense date, governing law, sentence, time credits, mandatory-supervision rules, and Board action. It is not an appointment. TDCJ's scheduled release date appears later, after favorable action and processing have advanced. The actual release date and time documents completed departure from a custodian. Discharge is later still when a sentence continues under parole or mandatory supervision.

A pretrial Dimmit County Jail detainee generally has no sentence-based projected date. Bond, dismissal, court order, plea, trial, other causes, and holds can change custody. The court record may supply authority to release, yet the Sheriff record supplies the physical timestamp. One cause can authorize release while another hold keeps the person confined.

Scheduled is not actual: A scheduled date is a processing plan. Confirm completed release with the custodian's entry or a TDCJ release certificate.

Find Dimmit Projected Release Dates

Start with the last verified custodian. TDCJ's search form accepts last name, first name, a seven-digit TDCJ number, SID, gender, and race. Detail fields vary. A record may show current unit, conviction data, projected release, parole review or eligibility, scheduled date and location during processing, supervision, and maximum expiration. Never substitute parole eligibility for projected release.

  1. Gather the full name and the strongest available identifier, such as TDCJ number, SID, booking number, birth date, or cause number.
  2. For state custody, search the TDCJ offender locator and open the correctly matched record.
  3. Read present status first. Then copy the exact labels for projected, scheduled, parole or mandatory release, maximum expiration, and discharge.
  4. For a county sentence or pretrial case, call the Dimmit County Jail and obtain the judgment and jail-credit entries from the proper clerk.
  5. Confirm a completed departure with the Sheriff's actual release timestamp or TDCJ release certificate.

The Dimmit County release search helps when the custodian is uncertain. A person who leaves the county jail for TDCJ, USMS, ICE, or another jail has transferred. Calling that event release to the community would be inaccurate.

Texas Good Time in Dimmit

Government Code Section 498.003 authorizes good-conduct time by classification and up to 15 additional days per 30 days actually served for diligent participation in specified programs. Good time is a privilege, not a vested right. It affects parole or mandatory-supervision eligibility rather than shortening the sentence itself, and it can be forfeited.

Subsection 498.003(e) addresses county confinement and certified qualifying sheriff work-program participation. That does not prove Dimmit County awards a certain local credit. Use the judgment, certified records, applicable law, and Sheriff's computation. Do not calculate a date from booking dates alone or promise a credit that no local policy confirms.

Texas has no universal state rule requiring everyone to serve 85 percent. That figure is often linked to federal discussions and should not be imported into a TDCJ record. Texas law instead uses offense, date, and sentence-specific rules, including serious-offense provisions discussed in Chapter 508.

Why Dimmit Release Dates Move

Projection is not a promise because the facts and legal stage can change. A new date should be reported with the source and an as-of date. When systems disagree, prefer the source closest to the event and newest timestamp while preserving the conflict until both custodians clarify it.

A detainer is a request or notice tied to another authority's custody interest. It can lead to transfer even when the first case permits release. Ask for public hold and destination data rather than assuming a person went home.

Confirm Dimmit Release Completion

For a county event, request the booking sheet and entry showing actual release date and time, disposition, releasing authority, and any public transfer destination. Compare it with the judgment or court order. An order signed or bond posted can support release, but neither is automatically the minute the person left the jail.

For TDCJ, review current status and scheduled fields, then request the release certificate when exact proof is required. Classification and Records audits the record after it receives a release certificate, calculates a scheduled date, and posts the scheduled unit fields later in processing. Program completion, residence approval, audit, and detainer resolution can add time even after favorable action.

Dimmit Mandatory Supervision Timing

For a mandatory-supervision-eligible offense before September 1, 1996, TDCJ's projected date generally reflects when flat time plus good time equals the sentence if parole has not occurred. For an eligible offense on or after that date, the calculation also depends on Board approval for discretionary mandatory supervision. An ineligible offense ordinarily projects to maximum expiration unless parole occurs.

Government Code Sections 508.145, 508.147, and 508.149 must be read with the offense and date. For many listed serious offenses, Section 508.145 uses actual calendar time equal to one-half the sentence or 30 years, whichever is less, with more offense-specific rules. Other inmates generally reach eligibility when calendar time plus good time equals one-fourth of the sentence or 15 years, whichever is less, subject to the full statute.

Those formulas describe eligibility, not guaranteed release. A Board denial can shift the displayed projection to maximum expiration. Later approval may move it earlier. That Texas-specific movement is why a copied percentage or hand calculation is unsafe.

Dimmit Parole Date Stages

Routine Texas parole consideration uses file review. It does not create a public hearing appointment for each candidate. The useful sequence is eligible, in review, approved, scheduled, released under supervision, then discharged. Two matching votes on an ordinary three-member panel decide the file, and approval may include conditions.

Program-conditioned FI codes explain why approval is not physical release. A person may need a program transfer and completion, an approved residence, a release certificate, and a Records audit. A detainer can change the receiving custodian. Read the current Board vote codes and contact Review and Release Processing when the official stage is unclear.

Dimmit County Sentence Dates

For a local sentence, request the judgment, jail-credit entries, modifications, and the Sheriff's computation. The Dimmit County Sheriff page does not publish an online roster, sentence calculator, local credit policy, or fixed release schedule. The absence of a public tool does not mean the underlying record does not exist.

The Dimmit County Clerk handles county criminal files. The District Clerk handles felony and district criminal files. Ask the clerk for the docket and named order, then ask the Sheriff for the actual custody entry. If one cause ends but another hold remains, the person may stay confined. A filed order and a jail timestamp answer different questions and should not be collapsed into one date.

No official source supplied a weekend or holiday release rule for Dimmit County. Do not shift a projected date by hand. Call the jail at 830-876-3508 for the specific custody record and current process.

Keep the calculation date with every copy. Court changes, credit decisions, or a newly recorded hold can make an older projection stale even when it was accurate when issued. Exact source labels and an as-of date let later readers distinguish a changed calculation from a transcription error.

If the Sheriff and court provide different dates, ask what each date marks. One may be the court's legal authority, while the other is the jail's completed physical release. Preserve both labels and do not force them into one event.
