Find Dimmit County Released Inmates

Dimmit County released inmates may be confirmed through local release records, court files, state corrections records, and supervision records. A search for Dimmit County released inmates must start with the system that last held the person. County jail custody, state prison custody, and federal or immigration custody leave different trails. Dimmit County released inmates also disappear from a current roster once a local booking closes, so a missing name alone proves little. The best search pairs an actual release entry with the court order, discharge record, or receiving-agency result that explains what happened next.

Dimmit County Release Records

A release record closes one custody episode. It is not the same as an arrest record, which documents the start of that episode. At Dimmit County Jail, a person may leave after bond, dismissal, time served, sentence completion, or another court order. Some departures do not return the person to the community. A felony commitment may send the person to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, while another hold may lead to a different county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Dimmit County Sheriff's Office holds the local booking and release trail. The proper proof combines its actual release date, time, and disposition with the relevant court record. A release order states legal authority, but another hold can delay or prevent physical departure. Conversely, a jail record can show that local custody ended without showing that all custody ended. That distinction is central when a name vanishes from a list.

Key point: Leaving Dimmit County Jail may mean community release or transfer. Confirm the disposition and any receiving agency.

Dimmit County Release Types

The recorded disposition guides the next lookup. Plain terms help prevent a transfer, a supervised release, and a full discharge from being treated as the same event.

Dimmit County Release Record Fields

No official Dimmit web roster or release archive was located on the county sources reviewed August 2, 2026. The useful field set is therefore what a focused request should name. Ask for the record of an existing custody episode, not for the Sheriff's Office to create a custom report.

FieldWhat it establishes
Full name and identifiersLinks the record to the correct person; a booking number identifies one local episode.
Booking date and timeMarks intake, not the arrest or offense time in every case.
Arresting agencyIdentifies who made the arrest, which may differ from the jail custodian.
Charge and cause numberConnects custody to the clerk's court file; an intake charge may later change.
Bond amount and statusShows bond data when public; an amount alone does not prove bond was posted.
Actual release date and timeBest evidence of when the Dimmit custody episode ended.
Release type and authorityExplains whether bond, a court, sentence calculation, or another authority ended custody.
Destination or holdMay distinguish community release from transfer when the information is public.

A booking photograph is a related arrest record. It does not prove release. The final court charge also may differ from the booking description. Compare the jail entry with the dismissal, judgment, commitment, or release order in every relevant cause.

Request Dimmit County Release Records

The Dimmit County Sheriff's Office does not post a release-record form, fixed local fee sheet, office hours, or promised response time. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 gives access to existing public records, subject to exceptions and redaction. State cost rules apply, and a requester may ask for an estimate before charges pass a chosen limit.

  1. Identify the person by full name, birth date or booking number if known, and an approximate custody date range.
  2. Ask for the booking sheet and the entry showing actual release date and time, disposition, releasing authority, and any public destination or hold result.
  3. Request the booking photograph separately in its existing electronic format if needed for record identification.
  4. Ask the office to cite any withholding authority and release all separable public portions.
  5. Compare the response with the matching County Clerk or District Clerk file.

The Texas Attorney General request guide explains the public-information process, while the state cost rules explain permissible charges. No local web retention window was found. Web visibility and agency retention are not the same. A sealed, expunged, juvenile, or otherwise protected record may be restricted, but a missing search result does not itself establish a legal restriction.

Dimmit Release Orders by Court

Dimmit County has a useful jurisdiction split. The County Clerk handles county-criminal records at 103 North Fifth Street and can be reached at 830-876-2323, option 5 then option 1. The District Clerk holds felony and district files at 212 North Fourth Street, Suite 202. Its published hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.; the phone is 830-876-4243, extensions 1211 through 1214.

Ask for the docket and the named order or judgment. Useful entries include the cause number, bond order, dismissal, sentence, jail credit, commitment, modification, revocation, and release or discharge order. “Order signed,” “bond posted,” and “released” mark different points. The jail's actual timestamp remains the strongest local proof of physical departure.

The statewide Re:SearchTX portal and Texas court directory are starting points, but document coverage varies. The official county-clerk directory does not identify a Dimmit case-management portal, so clerk-assisted access matters when a web search returns no document.

Texas Law on Dimmit Releases

Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs access to existing government records. It does not require an agency to answer research questions or compile a new release list. Juvenile rules, active-law-enforcement interests, victim protections, and other statutes can limit part of a record. TDCJ records also involve section 552.134 and narrower agency policies on releasable fields.

Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A addresses expunction, while Government Code Chapter 411 covers nondisclosure. Neither process is automatic. Different copies may follow different access rules, so correction or restriction questions belong with the agency or court that created each record.

TDCJ Dimmit Release Search

A person transferred on a felony commitment may appear in the TDCJ online inmate search. Search by name when no number is known, then compare the county, conviction, and identifiers. A TDCJ number or State Identification number is more precise. No result can mean a spelling problem, county-only custody, or a historical record that needs a request.

Search fieldUse
Last and first nameName search; compare more than the name before matching.
TDCJ numberDirect state correctional identifier.
SID numberTexas criminal-history identity link.
Gender and raceOptional narrowing fields on the search form.

Official detail fields can include location, offenses, county and court, projected release date, parole eligibility or review data, scheduled release date and location during processing, supervision, and maximum expiration. Not every field appears on every record. “Projected” is a calculation. “Scheduled” reflects a later processing stage. Parole marks release from prison under a sentence that continues, while discharge marks the displayed sentence obligation's end.

The TDCJ definitions page explains those labels. Its interface is illustrated below so the field names can be recognized, not as proof of anyone's current status.

Dimmit Post-Release Supervision Records

Probation and parole come from different systems. Probation, called community supervision in Texas, follows a sentencing court and local Community Supervision and Corrections Department administration. TDCJ does not provide a statewide public name search for ordinary probation. Use the judgment and the appropriate Dimmit clerk, then contact the CSCD through the court route.

Parole or mandatory supervision follows state prison release and is handled by the TDCJ Parole Division. Check the individual TDCJ record and use the Parole Status Line at 844-512-0461 for status questions. Approval is not the same as physical release. Conditions, program completion, an approved residence, a records audit, a release certificate, and detainer resolution may still affect the path. More detail appears under Post-Release Supervision.

Getting Home After Dimmit Release

The local community-resource guide names Southwest Area Regional Transit District as a transportation-planning contact. It lists 830-876-5211 and 800-499-1617, transportation hours of 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 24-hour advance contact. The guide does not promise pickup at Dimmit County Jail. Call ahead to confirm the route, reservation rules, and whether any pickup point can serve the actual release plan.

No official release time, exit door, family waiting point, weekend rule, or holiday procedure was found. Confirm timing with the jail before travel. A projected or court-ordered date is not a pickup appointment.

Dimmit Release Support and Records

The same resource guide identifies Camino Real Community Services for behavioral-health navigation in the area. It does not establish a Dimmit County government reentry office or a jail discharge partnership. Treat it as a named community contact to verify, not as a service promised at the jail gate.

No Dimmit property-return or release-day identification process is published. Ask the jail what property remains and how it may be retrieved. For a lost Texas driver license or identification card, use the Texas DPS replacement-ID route. Send record corrections to the office that originated the entry rather than assuming a downstream portal can change the source.

Dimmit Federal Transfer Checks

A county commissioners agenda references a Dimmit County Jail agreement involving the Western District of Texas. That narrow fact means some custody questions may require a federal docket, U.S. Marshals, or Bureau of Prisons check. It does not prove that every federal detainee is housed locally, that the jail has an ICE contract, or that a disappearance means release home.

Use the BOP Inmate Locator after federal commitment. “IN TRANSIT” is not release, and community corrections can remain BOP placement. A past release date with “RELEASED” marks the BOP custody endpoint but does not rule out supervision or another custodian. For USMS records, use the U.S. Marshals FOIA route.

An ICE detainer can keep a person up to 48 additional hours for transfer after local release authority. Search the ICE Online Detainee Locator exactly when the facts support immigration custody. Its recent-release scope is limited, so a negative result does not prove community release.

Each system answers a narrow question. Match the source to the custody stage instead of treating one blank result as final.

Old Jail Versus Release Site

Dimmit's former jail at 103 North Sixth Street is now the Visitor's Center and Jailhouse Museum. The Texas Historical Commission Atlas documents the historic property. It is not the place to confirm a current release or retrieve a custody record.

The operating Dimmit County Jail is at 669 Industrial Boulevard in Carrizo Springs. Keeping the two addresses separate prevents a trip to a museum when the Sheriff is the needed records custodian.

Dimmit County Release Facility

Dimmit County Jail is the only verified active detention facility in the county map. It holds local pretrial and eligible sentenced detainees and may hold people for another authority. Local community releases, TDCJ commitments, other-county moves, federal transfers, and ICE transfers follow different records paths. The facility page details those routes and the correct operating address.
